The Department of Computer Science (CIC) was created by the University Council Resolution nº 002/87 of 05/28/1987, being part of the Institute of Exact Sciences at the University of Brasilia. Currently, it is located at the Darcy Ribeiro University Campus, CIC/EST building. It offers undergraduate programs in Bachelor of Computer Science (1985) and Licentiate in Computer Science (1997), and is co-responsible for the Mechatronic Engineering (1997) and Computer Engineering (2009) programs. Furthermore, it coordinates the stricto sensu graduate programs PPGInf (2003) and PPCA (2012).

 

CIC's mission is to contribute to the advancement of state-of-the-art and the formation of human resources of excellence in Computing, capable of researching, applying, and creating new knowledge and technologies to promote well-being and social development. Its vision is to be a reference center for teaching, research, and extension in Computing, with a motivated and cohesive team, with national and international visibility, and an infrastructure suitable for the development of its activities, offering undergraduate and graduate education.
