Introduction SITRAER - Symposium of Air Transportation is an annual event organized by the Brazilian Air Transportation Research Society (Sociedade Brasileira de Transporte Aéreo – SBTA). SBTA is an independent scientific society whose goal is to promote academic and technical research on air transportation in Brazil. The Society was established in São José dos Campos, Brazil, in 2002. In 2006, the V SITRAER will be held in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, on October 25th – 27th. This event will reach not only the Brazilian academia and industry, but also researchers and professionals worldwide. Scope and topics Authors should submit a six-page manuscript – in double-column format, 10-point Times New Roman font, single-spaced – including authors' names, affiliations, and a short abstract. Only electronic submissions will be accepted (please see the detailed information on submission procedure). Papers must be submitted through the SITRAER 2006 website. The paper should present the methodology used in the research, its results and application. Topics covered include but are not limited to: * Air transportation economics, demand and forecasting * Airline strategy, management and operations * Airport economics, planning and operations * Airspace management and air traffic control * Aircraft design * New aircraft developments Selection process The papers are divided in two categories: regular research and student research. All regular papers selected for this conference are peer-reviewed and will be published in the regular conference proceedings by the SBTA. The best papers presented in the conference will be selected for publication in a special issue of the SBTA journal. Manuscripts must be original, in English or Portuguese and must not have been published or submitted elsewhere. The paper is limited within 4 - 6 pages (SHORT paper for the student section etc.), 8 -12 pages (FULL paper for the normal section) in the format of ANPET (see the PDF file: http://www.cic.unb.br/~weigang/sitraer/docs/InstrucoesParaAutores.pdf).
